Description: Improve 2.4km of single carriageway between Jordanstown and Seapark.
Scheme Status: The Statutory Orders in connection with the proposed scheme were published on 14th March 2007. The Orders are based on the preferred option Combined Route (555 Kb)
which was chosen following completion of the Stage 1 and Stage 2 Scheme Assessment Reports.
A Public Inquiry was held between 8th and 16th October 2007 at the Clarion Hotel Carrickfergus.
The Departmental Statement following the Public Inquiry was publicised on 1 October 2008, when the Statutory Notices including the Notice to Proceed were published. The Inspectors Report, the Consideration of the Inspectors Report, and the Departmental Statement are contained under the Useful Documents heading.
Next Steps: Roads Service will now further develop the design of the scheme and carry out an economic appraisal, before completion of the remaining Statutory Orders. Subject to satisfactory completion of these and the availability of finance the scheme would then proceed to procurement. The construction stage of the works is likely to take up to 2 years to complete.
