Randalstown to Castledawson Dualling Scheme

Welcome to the Randalstown to Castledawson dualling scheme website. The road improvement, located on the North Western Corridor which links Belfast to Londonderry, will provide a dual carriageway from the M22 Motorway at Randalstown (238kb) This link will open a new window. via the Toome Bypass (247kb) This link will open a new window. and Castledawson Bypass (286kb) This link will open a new window. to the Castledawson Roundabout. This improvement is part of a programme of Strategic Road Improvements being implemented by Northern Ireland Roads Service to remove bottlenecks on the key road network where lack of capacity is causing serious congestion, and to improve the environment by providing bypasses to some towns.

Planning Status at 18 November 2009: Roads Service has published statements setting out its decision on the Inspector’s reports on the public inquires held in November 2007 to examine the Environmental Statements, Direction Orders and Vesting Orders prepared for the proposed Randalstown to Toome and Toome to Castledawson Dualling Schemes. The Inspector’s Reports together with the Department’s Statements may be inspected by any person, free of charge, at all reasonable times during the period 17 November to 23 December at the following offices of the Department:

  • Roads Service—Northern Division, County Hall, 182 Galgorm Road, Ballymena BT42 1QG;

Exhibitions to explain the revised junction proposals associated with the A6 Randalstown to Castledawson dual carriageway will be held in -

Roads Service expect the planning of the revised junction improvements to be complete in late 2010. Availability of finance at that time will determine when the scheme will be built.
