Bridges

The Agency is the sole road authority in Northern Ireland, responsible for approximately 5,800 bridges. They range from box culvert to large steel structures such as the Foyle Bridge.

A Bridge Strengthening Group comprises of representatives from Network Development Branch in Headquarters, Divisional Staff, Transportation and Engineering Policy Unit, and from Highways Structure Unit, which oversees the maintenance of all Bridges. The Group meets quarterly to ensure that all maintenance work is carried out to all relevant standards.
