Electronic viewing of the project documents during the tender stage is not intended to be used for pricing purposes. Tenders must only be prepared on the basis of documents issued in paper form or on CD. These documents will take precedence over any versions contained on the Website. Any discrepencies between the information contained within this website and the paper or CD documents shall not provide any basis for any action against the Department of Regional Development, Roads Service.

Policy

All schemes up to £1,000k are classified as Minor Works, while schemes over £1,000k are classified as Major Works.

Capital Works should generally be procured using the most appropriate method based on the scheme cost as noted below:

Quotations may be used where the work is estimated to cost up to £15k and there is no formal contract.

Term contracts will be used when the work is estimated to cost up to £250k.

Open competitions will normally be used when the work is estimated to cost between £200k and £1,000k.

Restricted Procedure should be used when the work is estimated to cost over £1,000k. Schemes estimated to cost more than £3.611m will also be advertised through EU journal.

All Schemes provided through Roads Service Consultancy Contracts Section are advertised on the Web site. (This is at an experimental stage at the moment.)
