PolicyAll schemes up to £1,000k are classified as Minor Works, while schemes over £1,000k are classified as Major Works. Capital Works should generally be procured using the most appropriate method based on the scheme cost as noted below: Quotations may be used where the work is estimated to cost up to £15k and there is no formal contract. Term contracts will be used when the work is estimated to cost up to £250k. Open competitions will normally be used when the work is estimated to cost between £200k and £1,000k. Restricted Procedure should be used when the work is estimated to cost over £1,000k. Schemes estimated to cost more than £3.611m will also be advertised through EU journal.
