General
A Technical Grade 2 (TG2) in Roads Service will provide
technical support in some aspects of the design, construction, management and maintenance of the road
network in Northern Ireland and in the implementation of transportation measures. It is envisaged that
this competition will be advertised on an annual basis, probably around April / May of each year.
Main
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collection and interpretation of roads-related
data.
- Basic supervision of road works, including private streets, utility road openings
and/or Roads Service direct labour force.
- Laboratory - materials testing and database
maintenance.
- Traffic surveys.
- Topographical surveys.
- Use
of computer applications.
- Customer care.
Entry Requirements
- you must have:
- 2 GCSE's; or
- Qualifications considered
by Roads Service to be an equivalent or higher level.
Education & Training
- Self
development opportunities exist through the Roads Service Aids to Study scheme, which is designed to
support staff wishing to take external training or further education courses.
- Support
under Aids to Study may include financial assistance, time off for exams and pre-exam study, etc.
- The
main method of training is on-the-job.
- There is a wide range of standard and customised
training courses available for staff.
- Additional training may be delivered via seminars,
conferences, videos etc.
