To reduce the number of illegally parked vehicles on our streets. This in turn will
- improve
road safety
- improve traffic flow and journey times
- improve access
for all road users
- improve the environment
We will
be paying close attention to areas where parking restrictions are in place such as:
- On
Urban Clearways – By preventing cars being parked in urban clearways during the morning and evening
rush hours we will improve journey times for commuter traffic.
- Bus
Lanes – By preventing vehicles from parking in bus lanes we will improve journey times for bus
users.
- At Bus Stops – By allowing buses to stop close to the
pavement, passengers with mobility problems, children, pushchairs or simply heavy shopping will find
it easier and safer to board and alight.
- Shopping Areas – By
making it easier for delivery vehicles to get to and from shops and making short stay parking spaces
more readily available for shoppers.
- Generally – By reducing
the effects of cars parked in contravention of waiting restrictions we will help to manage travel demand
in Northern Ireland by making use our road space more effective. That way we all gain!
