In the first instance vehicles will NOT
be clamped or removed if they park illegally - they will only receive a parking ticket. It is hoped
that a £60 penalty will be a sufficient deterrent to motorists and the introduction of clamping and
removals for routine enforcement will not be required.
We do however propose
to clamp or remove the vehicles of people who have outstanding parking debt by not paying their parking
tickets.
Roads Service objective is to reduce the level of illegal parking, not to allow people
to park illegally just because they can afford to pay the penalty. Therefore we also intend to take
clamping and removal action against people who persistently park illegally
